Frustrated with lack of time

As fitness consultants to a wide variety of individuals, we at Hybrid Fitness deal with one issue in particular that comes up constantly. Time. People always complain about a lack of time in their schedules. With work, kids, family, social groups and all the unforseen issues life throws at you, it’s tough to get time to get to the gym and get a workout in.

So how do you do it? How do you find the time in the hectic day-to-day routine?

Believe it or not, the time is there. It always has been. You might be reading this right now, rolling your eyes and calling us crazy, but it’s true. You don’t need to have an hour or 90 minutes every day to work out. It just isn’t necessary. The truth is, you can get an incredibly effective workout in a matter of minutes. Everyone has and extra 30 minutes to spare. Everyone. It’s just a matter of finding the time. Unplug from the computer, spend less time on the phone…whatever it takes to get a few extra minutes. Once you find the time, you need to maximize it.

One way to do this is with interval training. Cardio can be a very time consuming element of fitness. Some people feel like they absolutely must get an hour or more of cardio in per day. This is a myth. The truth is, a person can actually get greater caloric burn and substantially better cardiovascular conditioning by doing interval training, and it takes a fraction of the time.  Sound too good to be true?  Trust me, its a reality. So where do you begin?  A great place to start is with Taku’s Intervals. Taku’s Intervals was originally designed right here at Hybrid Fitness as a conditioning protocol for competitive athletes, but has since been used with countless individuals of all fitness levels. The bottom line is: it works. Plus, it’s broken down into three 4-week elements, making it easy to follow. The results speak for themselves.

As for resistance training, you don’t have to do a lot of work to get a lot of benefit. A simple barbell program, medicine ball program or, even easier, bodyweight program will strengthen the body, increase endurance, increase lean muscle mass and help you move better and feel better. Indoors, outdoors, weights, bodyweight, jumprope….whatever you have access to, we’ve probably designed a program for.
